Last week, an American gal pal of mine and I played up our tourist status by crossing hemispheres and visiting Greenwich. We went all out touring the Royal Observatory - audio guides and all. Afterward learning all about time standardization and naval navigation, we walked through the park to the Queen's House (one of my favorites) and the Old Royal Naval College. We had lunch at Clocktower Market; Ethiopian for E and Chinese for me - of course! To head home we took the Emirates Air Line back across the Thames.
It's hard to believe I've been in the UK for almost a month now. Despite the amount of free time I have, we've been keeping busy. Settling into the new flat, visiting family, wedding planning, exploring the city...it goes on and on - hectic, but loads of fun.
Lots of excitement going on to close out 2014 and RING IN 2015. This year was the closest to coming home for the holidays I've done in recent years - I spent the holidays in London with D and his family. We cooked and played loads of board games - actually just many games of Agricola. D planned loads of sightseeing activities as well including two shows: Book of Mormon and Swan Lake! Little did I know, D also had another surprise, literally up his sleeve. We went ice skating at Somerset House for New Year's Eve and he proposed in the middle of the rink! We celebrated with champagne and the fireworks show on the balcony overlooking the Thames. Best way to finish out the year and bring on 2015!
