This summer I spent almost a month back in the states visiting friends and family. I flew through a small storm - with lightning - as Sam was practicing a new certification; we ate lots of great fresh foods in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland and the Short North in Columbus. Americana was in full swing with Alaina, my sister Lauren, and her friend Megan at the Columbus Clippers baseball game. Of course, there was also a lot of shopping and relaxing once summer weather decided to show up in July.
The weather started to feel like summer this weekend, just in time for a few girlfriends to get together for a barbecue. My long time high school classmate hosted a BBQ in her lush backyard for a bachelorette celebration. Custom cocktails and a build-your-own-Boca station was perfect summertime fare. We topped the whole thing off with balloon and sparklers for entertainment along with some throwback tunes.
Every time I land back in the states I pack my schedule so that I can adjust to the time zone that much faster. After time at home on Thursday with my mom, I spent my first weekend back in the states with my younger sister and cousin. I refreshed my hair with a much needed appointment at Phia in the Short North and checked out the new juice spot Native. We had planned to experience an American favorite, a baseball game at Huntington Stadium but the Clippers game was rained out. Instead, we went to Redbox and rented 50 Shades (I'm finally catching up) and sampled some new boxed wines. We got up early to avoid the rush at Short North brunch favorite, Tasi on Saturday. We shopped all day in the Short North and Easton and ended up crashing in the evening. Sunday was spent touring homes and gardens after sipping bellinis at Lindey's in German Village.
