Chinese New Year is right around the corner and I could not be more ready for a break. This year we've been too busy/exhausted to plan much of an itinerary and what I really need is a proper BREAK. After researching flights, we settled on returning to Koh Tao, Thailand. This island was one of our first adventures together years ago, so we're already familiar with the area. I'm looking forward to two full weeks of lounging in the sun, yoga, reading for pleasure, and binging on Thai curries and fruit smoothies. We still have three more weeks of business as usual before we depart, but I'm already planning my packing list.
I'm bringing only the bare minimum for this category. Though given a new year's resolution of mine has been to commit to a skincare routine, this includes more than I would have packed in previous years. I've been happy with the results from my Sunday Riley cleanser so I picked it up in travel size for trips. Aside from that, the basics will do - SPF moisturizer, lip balm, and wave spray (taking a much-needed break from heated tools).
This is where my true minimalist nature comes in. One pair of denim shorts (for the beach I size up for a looser fit), a couple of basic tanks and tees, and one dress are all I need. I'm training for a half marathon at the moment so active basics that double as daywear will also be coming along. I'll attempt to leave the colder temperatures of Shanghai wearing only a sweatshirt without complaining too much and hope that it comes in handy on cooler evenings.
For morning runs, I'm bringing one pair of old trainers. Teva sandals are my favorites for beach-to-street wear - I find that flip-flops are always falling off my feet too easily. One pair of older leather sandals for when I want to 'dress up.' Lastly, a straw hat to protect my face when sunbathing, day bag, and I'm set!
